CHEMETER, the tool for compliant and updated safety data sheet
Guaranteeing regulatory compliance and the safety of products supplied is one of the fundamental aspects of our time.
The variety of rules to be respected and their continuous evolution makes it difficult to have a clear and updated picture. The situation becomes more complex when one also faces markets beyond the national territory.
Substantial help comes from the use of a tool like CHEMETER, software for the preparation of safety data sheets and labels adapted to the regulations and languages of over 50 countries in the world.

TexCare® SRN 260 Life – A green Soil Release Polymer
Sustainability plays a role in many parts of our lives and more and more consumers are looking for environmental-friendly cleaning products. Considering Laundry Detergents, the need for sustainability is reflected in the desire to use renewable ingredients with a low impact on the environment. In order to waste less energy, the washing temperatures are steadily decreasing, whilst consumers expect not to compromise on the washing performance
The novel TexCare® SRN 260 Life is a nonionic soil release polymer based on non-tropical raw materials and has a renewable carbon index (RCI) of ~80 %. It builds a shield against stain, shows outstanding performance for soil release and efficiently prevents synthetic fibers from greying. TexCare® SRN 260 Life works at cold temperatures (20 °C) and is readily biodegradable. The bio-based origin and the excellent performance make TexCare® SRN 260 Life a perfect ingredient for sustainable laundry products.

Biobased polymers from sustainable sources for detergent
Borregaard additives are plant-based polymers produced from sustainable Norwegian forests. They provide a range of proven benefits stemming from their ability to disperse particles, complex ions, inhibit precipitates, stabilize emulsions, and more. In this sense, Borregaard’s additives can provide a 100% biobased alternative to ingredients such as polycarboxylates (e.g. polyacrylate) and other essential components in cleaning product formulations. The aim of this presentation is to introduce Borregaard as a supplier of sustainable plant-based ingredients for cleaning products.

BPR Data Requirements on the move
Disinfectant Formulations, which require to be authorized under the Biocidal Product Regulation are subject to a variety of challenges: High costs to prepare and to review the dossier, intensive involvement of highly qualified and specialized personnel and continuous challenges on the validity of claims which need to be substantiated following the guidance of the European Standards Committee. In particular the European Norms are frequently reviewed: New guidelines are developed, which typically consist in either a further reduction of available microorganisms to test against, higher hurdles to successfully pass more stringent test conditions or novel test procedures, which put additional strain on the pass criteria for a given formulation. While robust, widely applicable and cost effective formulations are desirable, it becomes more and more difficult to satisfy a long wish list of potential features as requirements constantly change. The presentation covers new developments in the field of formulations and updated test standards and addresses general concerns on how to best handle these issues.

Safe and sustainable solutions for easy cleaning and shine of all hard surfaces
Today’s consumers are looking for more sustainable cleaning solutions, Solvay introduces solutions that aim to answer tomorrow’s needs. In a world where consumer awareness is rising and where controversial chemicals become more and more limited, we have developed Mirapol Surf-SⓇ 900 and 600, two novel surface cleaning additives free of any biocide. They bring durable hydrophilization of hard surfaces such as ceramic, glass or stainless steel to power-up your surface cleaners with extra-shine, easier next-time cleaning, or continuous cleaning action. Moreover, at Solvay we understand that consumers today want to go beyond the classic sustainability criteria, and more and more towards natural home care products. Mirapol Surf-NⓇ HSC is a naturally-derived ingredient, high active and preservative-free that supports the transition towards efficient natural-based cleaners. Mirapol Surf-NⓇ HSC specifically targets modern plastic surfaces and brings benefits such as spot- and streak-free cleaning and faster drying. They are designed by our laboratories to answer tomorrow’s need which is a safe, natural and convenient cleaning. By combining the power of each solution, you are able to tailor an ultimate sustainable system that will be universal to all surfaces and bring attributes such as sparkling surfaces, easier next-time cleaning, longer-lasting clean effect and faster drying.

Green Defoaming
The demands and expectations of our modern society towards chemical products is ever increasing, and formulas based on renewable, non-toxic and biodegradable chemicals are required in detergents. This affects emulsifiers, solvents, dispersants, wetting agents, defoamers, foamers, rheology modifiers, and anticorrosive agents. All the ingredients are expected and checked to be compliant with these new demands. MÜNZING, which is a company over 180 years old, produces and customizes specialty additives for a variety of applications, and new trends and customer requests are considered in the development of new products. In the presentation, concepts like green, biodegradable, and renewable will be discussed, and MÜNZING’s green products will be put into that context without forgetting that performance in hygiene is mandatory. Wetting, dispersing and emulsifying properties in conjunction with good foam control are very important to achieve the desired cleanliness. Foam control is critical for the optimal performance of cleaning systems and to achieve optimal productivity in filling processes with foamy cleaners. Because each system is unique in formulation and performance requirements, multiple defoaming technologies are necessary to satisfy the many needs, and that is especially important when a “green” product is requested. The presentation will provide insight into defoaming technologies and will focus on green defoaming.

Surfactant-free (Pickering) Emulsions for Homecare Applications
A Pickering emulsion is stabilized by means of solid particles which adsorb onto the interface
between the two phases. This type of emulsion was named after S. U. Pickering, who
described the phenomenon in 1907. The process is used to produce emulsifier-free W/O and
also O/W emulsions. The presentation will show the theory and practical examples.

Smart Car Cleaning
Regardless of the current climate debate, cars will also be driven in the future. No matter if a car is running on fuel or electricity: it will always get in contact with a wide variety of dirt and need a proper cleaning.
The preference of the cleaning procedure is as various as the preference for the type of car. Some people visit a washing facility once a year, others love to spend time with their car cleaning it by hand at home.
No matter which procedure is chosen: A car cleaning formulation not only needs to be powerful in terms of cleaning, but also gentle towards the different car materials. Varnish can be scratched, plastic parts can be damaged, metal can be corroded.
Zschimmer & Schwarz offers tailor-made solutions with smart features for every kind of cleaning application. Cleaning power, material safety and sustainable ingredients are highest priority.
In the presentation, the following smart car cleaners will be introduced:
- Glass cleaner with anti-fog effect
- Car shampoo with colour-change
- Car shampoo with carnauba wax
- Wheel cleaner with corrosion protection
- Rinsing agent for dry and glossy varnish
