Il controllo della schiuma è fondamentale per le prestazioni ottimali nei sistemi di lavaggio. Come conseguenza dell’unicità dei requisiti formulativi e prestazionali di ogni sistema lavante, si rendono necessarie differenti tecnologie di controllo della schiuma per soddisfare molteplici esigenze. Münzing, da oltre 180 anni, produce e personalizza specialità additive per un’ampia gamma di applicazioni. With today’s sophisticated formulations and transparent packaging, it has become even more challenging to maintain a product’s key visual and sensorial appearance. Color is an important criterion for sensorial appeal, used to boost product placement and recognition, and is therefore essential for commercial success.
Product aesthetics and visual aspects transport claims to the consumer through their symbolic nature, emphasizing certain product properties and promoting the brand image.
Colours, but also scents and overall design, are signals stimulating emotions and influencing the buying decision. In this respect colour stability is of similar importance during the product’s life cycle as are application properties. This is why colours must be selected carefully not only to meet the marketing requests, but also to ensure compatibility and a high degree of storage stability, without discoloration.
The knowledge about CI-numbers and the chromophors on which they are based one is able to make rather accurate predictions about the qualities of the dye, such as colour and stability. Knowledge about the type of dye (acid dye, alkaline dye, etc.) also gives you an idea about the dissolubility and compatibility of the dye in the formula. You can also benefit from this knowledge when including a wide range of chromophors in your screening.
Since the selection of the colours is often the last step in product development, then appearing problems such as incompatibility, inhomogeneity and pH- or light instability are especially critical. The basic knowledge about the characteristics of colouring agents and their classification can help in that respect, so that the correct dye can be chosen and a cost-efficient, storage stable homogenous product colouring can be achieved.

Surfactants and emulsifiers from renewable raw materials
Wheatoleo is a producer of sustainable surfactants derived from renewable resources mainly from European origin at its biorefinery plant located in Pomacle / Champagne, France. An overwiew of the complete range of green surfactants will be presented. The APPYCLEAN technology will be introduced so as the surfactants composing the Appyclean Special and the Appyclean Functional ranges. Fatty Alcohol Sulfates (FAS) of vegetable origin, are generally recognized as being more eco-friendly surfactants than LAS.
However, one drawback of FAS, that has limited their larger use, is the high difficulty to achieve concentrated solution higher than 30 % active matter.
In a market that is moving more and more towards highly concentrated detergents, the limitation imposed by diluted solution of FAS is even more limiting their use.
Therefore, our strategy has been to look for technical solutions to overcome the current limits, and we have developed a non aqueous solution of MEA FAS at 60% in active matter, which is a greener alternative to the more commonly used MEA-DDB.
This innovative raw material finds its best application in final products in the detergent market such as concentrated aqueous and non-aqueous liquid detergents, which are well accepted from the final consumers both for their limited environmental impact (less plastic used for the packaging, reduced production of CO2), and for their ease of use.
In this work, we experimentally demonstrate that the use of non aqueous MEA FAS allows to obtain highly concentrated detergents without any dangerous exothermical reaction (thus reducing production cycles with energy saving), and with cleaning performances that are significantly better than the ones of formulations with a comparable active matter based on the most traditional MEA-DDB (from petrochemical sources), in different washing conditions. Moreover, MEA FAS is more effective at lower concentration than MEA DDB, thus making its use very cost effective.
